Rich brings more than 25 years of Med Tech experience ranging from start-ups to large corporate organisations. Since graduating with a BSc in Physics, he has held commercial leadership and General Management positions, leading teams and commercialising complex medical devices. Notably he has launched a novel device into the US orthopaedics market, taking annual revenue to $30M and establishing then leading a new commercial operation based in Shanghai China. Before joining OrthoSon, Rich led the EMEA business for Terumo’s Pharmaceutical Solutions Division based in Leuven, Belgium.

Rich is now based in Oxford, UK.

Professor Constantin Coussios OBE holds BA, MEng, MA and PhD degrees in Engineering from the University of Cambridge and is a serial entrepreneur. He helped lead his first company, Organox, to acqusition by Terumo for $1.5B in 2025.

He was elected to the first statutory chair in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Oxford in 2011, He is the author of over 100 peer-reviewed publications and 16 patents in the fields of drug delivery, acoustic cavitation and therapeutic ultrasound. Prof. Coussios received the UK’s Institute of Acoustics’ Young Person’s Award for Innovation in Acoustical Engineering in 2007, was elected as Secretary-General of the International Society for Therapeutic Ultrasound between 2006-2010 and was honoured with the Society’s Fred Lizzi award in 2012. He was elected as the youngest ever Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America in 2009 for contributions to biomedical ultrasound, and received the Society’s Bruce Lindsay award in 2012.

Prof. Coussios leads the company’s technical operation and is based in Oxford, UK.

Following successful careers at both Stryker and Smith & Nephew, Ken has held three CEO roles, leading them through growth and exit, by acquisition and IPO. Ken is based on West Coast USA.

Nick Birch FRCS (Orth) is a Consultant spinal specialist and Director of East Midlands Spine Ltd who has a particular expertise in diagnosing and treating complex pain and neurological disorders associated with the spine. He is also Medical Director of RealHealth Pain Management in Rugby, Warwickshire, a centre offering high intensity, combined physical and psychological programs for people with persistent severe pain.

Nick is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, a Fellow of the British Orthopaedic Association, and holds memberships of the British Associations of Spine Surgeons, the North American Spine Society and the Society for Back Pain Research.

He has had an interest in innovative solutions to treat spinal pain associated with disc degeneration for three decades and at the turn of the 21st century, he was an early adopter of highly selective use of the PDN nucleus repair device as well as lumbar disc arthroplasty. Since then he has been involved in an advisory capacity with a variety of medtech companies developing bone and disc repair technologies.

Nick is the Spine Specialty Editor for the Bone and Joint Journal and is the author or co-author of 31 peer reviewed scientific publications.

James has an MA in Engineering Science from Oxford and an MBA from Cranfield University. James has made and managed investments in many technology spinouts which have been successfully sold or taken public, including NaturalMotion, Oxitec, Oxford Immunotec and Adaptimmune.

After 15 years tenure managing the University of Oxford’s technology spinout portfolio, latterly as Director of Oxford Spinout Equity Management, James left the University at the end of 2017, with a portfolio comprised of shareholdings in over 100 technology companies spanning life sciences and other technology, and joined Oxford Investment Consultants.

James brings over 25 years’ experience as a venture capital advisor and investor, both at the seed and later stage, to Orthoson Ltd.

Glyn Edwards has held the position of CEO of Summit plc since April 2012 where he has restructured the business, taken the company through a NASDAQ listing and focused on its infectious and rare disease clinical development programs. Prior to joining Summit, he served as interim CEO of the BioIndustry Association (BIA), a UK trade organisation, from November 2011 to June 2012, and as CEO at Antisoma plc, a biotechnology company specialising in the development of novel drugs for the treatment of cancer, from 1998 to 2011. He received a BSc in Biochemistry from Bristol University and a MSc in Economics from the London Business School. Glyn was awarded an MBE for his services to the biotechnology industry in 2006. In 2019 he joined the board of Orthoson ltd as a Non-Executive Director and as a member of the company’s Remuneration Committee.

Ted Bird has over 35 years of global commercial experience in the medical device arena, including 30 years in the spine industry specifically. Ted is currently Chief Strategy Officer at Dymicron and Principal at Bird Medical Group, a strategic consulting firm. He led global marketing, medical education, and business development at Medtronic Sofamor Danek, and served as VP of Spine Arthroplasty Education at Depuy Spine, President of Orthofix Spinal Implants Division, Non-Executive Chairman of the Board at Apifix and Chief Commercial Officer at Titan Spine.

Andy Carter is a seasoned executive with over 30 years of medical device experience, primarily in orthopedics, biomaterials and tissue engineering. He has worked in large corporations, start-ups and small companies and has managed both research and development programs. Andy has experience of project and portfolio management, due diligence and the setting up and running of collaborative R&D programs. He is a Board Member at Tetrous Inc. and Chief Technology Officer at Theracell Inc., and DermOQ, and advises a number of start ups in the spine and orthopaedics space. At Spine Wave he was responsible for their nucleus replacement product development.

Andy’s specialties include Orthopedics and Spine, Regenerative medicine/Tissue engineering, Biomaterials, Medical textiles, Sports medicine and Cartilage repair.

Dr. Kris Radcliff is a fellowship-trained Spinal Surgeon who holds the title of Associate Professor with joint faculty appointments in orthopedic surgery and neurological surgery at Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Radcliff specializes in the latest techniques in spinal reconstruction including minimally invasive spinal reconstruction procedures and artificial disk replacement.

Dr. Radcliff is actively interested in exploring alternatives to traditional fusion surgery. Dr. Radcliff recently won the prestigious best paper award at an international meeting of cervical spine experts (Cervical Spine Research Society) for a study comparing cervical disk replacement and fusion.

Dr Radcliff completed his undergraduate education at Harvard University and medical school at Duke University School of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the prestigious Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Following residency, Dr. Radcliff performed fellowship training in Spine Surgery and Spinal Cord Injury at Thomas Jefferson University, widely considered to be one of the top orthopedic and neurosurgical spine fellowships in the world. He has also visited and operated with leading spine surgeons in the nation and around the world.

Dr. Radcliff is an international expert on diagnosis, nonsurgical, and surgical treatment of spinal conditions. Dr. Radcliff has authored or co-authored seventy six peer-reviewed publications, twenty two textbook chapters on diagnosis and treatment of spinal conditions, and has won numerous research awards. Dr. Radcliff was recently chosen as the liaison of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons to the North American Spine Society Low Back Pain Guideline Committee.

Dr. Radcliff regularly teaches other surgeons at national and international meetings about safely and efficiently performing spine surgery, techniques and complication avoidance in minimally invasive spine surgery, orthopedic basic science, and spine trauma and spinal cord injury.

Dr. Radcliff is incoming Chairman of the North American Spine Society Young Surgeons Forum. Dr Radcliff is President of the Association for Collaborative Spine Research. Dr. Radcliff is a regular invited faculty member at numerous national and international spine meetings including the prestigious “Contemporary Techniques in Minimally Invasive Cervical and Lumbar Spine Surgery” course in St. Louis. Dr Radcliff is also on the faculty at the Cervical Spine Research Society meeting, Association for Neurological Surgeons/Congress of Neurological Surgeons Joint Meeting on Spine, North American Spine Society, and American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Radcliff is also an active member of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery and Lumber Spine Research Society.

Aaron Kenneth Calodney, MD is Past President of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP), he previously served on the Board of Directors for the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP). He is Past President of the Texas Pain Society. Dr. Calodney serves on the advisory Board for the World Institute of Pain (WIP). He has served on the Board of Directors and as Chairman of Education for the International Spine Intervention Society (ISIS) where he is a Master Instructor. Dr. Calodney is a lecturer and examiner for the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians (ABIPP), and the Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP) certifying examinations. Dr. Calodney is board certified in Anesthesiology and carries subspecialty certification in Pain Management through the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is a Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP) and a Diplomate of the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians (ABIPP).

Dr. Calodney has a degree in Music from Indiana University, completing his pre-medical education at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri School of Medicine and completed a family medicine internship at St Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, New York. His residency in anesthesiology and subsequent interventional pain management fellowship was completed at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He subsequently completed a fellowship in pediatric anesthesia at the Denver Children’s Hospital. After spending several years as a faculty member in the Department of Anesthesiology at the UT medical school in Houston, Dr. Calodney moved to East Texas where he has practiced since 1991.

With particular interest in Spine and special interests including Neuromodulation and Intrathecal Drug Delivery, Biological treatment of the painful degenerative disc, Peripheral nerve injury, and Radiofrequency ablation, Dr. Calodney has presented and published many articles and textbook chapters. He is actively involved in clinical research and has delivered over 250 invited lectures in the US and abroad.

Dr. Calodney is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, International Spine Intervention Society, International Neuromodulation Society, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, North American Neuromodulation Society, Texas Pain Society, Texas Medical Association, Texas Society of Anesthesiology, and the Smith County Medical Society.

Dr. Calodney has hospital privileges at Texas Spine and Joint Hospital, Trinity Mother Frances Health System and East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.

He is an author of the first Evidenced Based Treatment Guidelines in Interventional Pain and Evidenced Based Guidelines for the Use of Opioids published in the Pain Physician journal and on the National Guideline Clearinghouse.

Naghza is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a highly experienced Finance Director with significant Board level experience and skilled at strategic infrastructure growth; scaling up SMEs. She has worked with small start-ups through to large international groups, in the third sector and other industries ranging from Fintech and Biotech to Transport and Logistics, Sport, Manufacturing and Hospitality. She brings with her significant experience in capital intense businesses.

With a BSc in Chemistry and PhD in Materials Chemistry and 20 years’ industrial experience (including 6 years in medical devices) Martin brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role. Martin has also worked in early stage start-ups and large multinational organisations, developing products such a fuel additives, optical coatings, synthetic diamonds and radiotherapy enhancing nanomaterials. He has also worked on; early stage proof of concept, product development, through to customer field trials both hands-on and in a project management capacity.
